OUR MISSION

We proudly reflect the independent spirit of Virginia City, honor the past and brew some amazing craft beer!

Virginia City Brewery follows a long line of historic brewers brought to life in the same town that originated brewpubs in the state of Nevada. Virginia City’s deep, rich history is a perfect setting for brewing our handcrafted beers. We proudly serve Comstock-made craft beer brewed with water straight from Marlette Lake in the Eastern Sierra’s.

BREWMASTER - Dave Otto

Originally From Southern New Jersey just outside Philadelphia, Dave was an avid home brewer before moving to Las Vegas and landing a job at Holy Cow! Casino, Cafe, Brewery in 1997. Dave soon became the Head Brewer and continued with the company for nearly 20 years as the brewery transformed into Big Dog's Brewing Company and moved operations to the Northwest valley. He moved over to the new PT's Brewing Company in 2015 then Dave joined Tonopah Brewing Company & Virginia City Brewery in March 2020.

"I first became interested in brewing after I bought a home brewing kit for my parents. Quickly realizing they had no interest in making their own beer, I decided to try it out myself and made a 5 gallon batch and became instantly intrigued by the process and the good results I had achieved. I made beer!"

THE BUILDING & BREWERY

Our building was built after the great fire of 1875. It was first a restaurant bakery in the 1880s and eventually a grocery store in the 1930s-1960s. We modified the entire inside of the building to accommodate a 15BBL brewing system, and a FULL BAR. Preserving the original brick interior and structure and the original cooler from the 1930s that use to store kegs.
